The DROPS Awareness Training Course is an interactive learning program that explores how industry prevents dropped objects at the worksite and at each stage of project lifecycles.

Delivered at an awareness level, it covers the DROPS Recommended Practice in it's entirety, and will give the learner an appreciation of where and how dropped objects occur and how we can prevent and control them across a wide range of activities.
The training is based upon Industry and associated best practices. The training is suitable for offshore and onshore audiences and captures the best practice.
Training Info
Section 1: DROPS Consequences, including:
- Identify potential dropped object hazards
- Remove if safe to do so and report it / record it on Observation Card
- Identify and understand securing methods, question yourself ‘How robust is it?’
- Report all defects to Supervisor or Area Authorities
- Remedial / corrective actions are only risk assessed, planned and managed by Technical Authorities / OEM.
Section 2: DROPS Control, including:
- HazID, Risk Assess, Eliminate, Substitute, Control
- Preventive and Mitigating Controls:
- Induction, Training, Competence
- Continuous Hazard Awareness, Observations, Stop Work Authority
- Planning, Prompt Card, Toolbox Talks, PTW, Worksite Procedures
- Codes, Standards, OEM Recommendations
- Reliable Securing - Primary fixings and Secondary retention
- Control of Tools and Equipment at Height
- Survey and Inspection, Maintenance, Certification
- Collision Checks / Checklists / Management of Distractions
- Cargo Handling / Securing for Adverse Weather Conditions
- Management of Change
- Red Zones and Restricted Access Areas / No Go Zones
- Safety Securing Systems, Barricades, Guards and Nets
- PPE and Communications
